Makesgiving is Back!

Today Makesgiving is back at the Milwaukee Makerspace. While some people are out fighting the lines and searching for deals we are here helping people make their gifts. Each of our seven stations is run by a volunteer member and is totally free. If your in the Bay View area come by and make a t-shirt or an ornament. One of our few rules at the Makerspace is to be excellent to eachother, today is our opportunity to be excellent to our community. Bay View and St. Francis have been wonderful locations for our makerspaces. We are so grateful to have been welcomed with open arms as the makerspace expands. Thank you Milwaukee!

Just to name a few stations, Jake and Faith are helping our neighbors make pillows with fabrics scraps donated to the craft lab. Jeff and Brant are making melted crayon ornaments.

Jerry has used his toy making skills to improve our nerdy derby construction techniques. This year we have added a t-shirt making station to our makes giving offerings with Mariah showing guests how to screen print. Special thanks to all our volunteers and members!

Love-O-Meter at Maker Faire 2022

Jon Drayna’s Love-O-Meter used biometric sensors linked to an Arduino to measure “how much love is in your heart” at the Milwaukee Maker Faire.

The Love-O-Meter was one of many displays offered by Makerspace members at the 2022 Maker Faire, at Discovery World Oct. 19 and 20. The gizmo, created by Jon Drayna, measured galvanic skin resistance, skin temperature and squeeze pressure, all fed into an Arduino to come up with a score to supposedly showing “how much love is in your heart.” Junk science, of course, but a great way to introduce people to the amazing Arduino. Hats off to all the creative MMS members showing off their inventions, creations and art at the Maker Faire.

Model Mondays New Format!

Over the history of Model Monday we have had a number of format changes.  From going virtual, change of venue, and the addition of recordings.  Lately we have doing longer form multi class projects.  Starting last week we went back to our roots with shorter one class projects.  The longer format allowed us to get deeper into the Fusion 360 tool set but was not aw friendly to the beginners and new members.  Our first project in this shorter format is an Ice-cream Maker.

Lamp Working Demo!

This Saturday the 6th come by and check out the Lamp Working demo by member Chris Saunders.  This is going to be a fun one so don’t miss out.  Chris would like to start a Lamp Working area at Norwich and this is a first test dive.  Member attendance at this event will be a signal to the BOD that members want this area in the Makerspace.  Come and learn or just come and watch.
